2D1N Mt. Ulap Fridayhike + Baguio Side Trip

Finally!! ๐Ÿ˜‚
A climb with my bff Jefferson at Mt. Ulap. We almost not make it because the event we joined in FB got cancelled just a day before the set date. But since our VLs were already filed and we’re kind of adventurous that time, we decided to make a DIY itinerary instead. So we did a quick research and talked/chat with friends for help.

Anyway, here is the itinerary, estimated cost and some photos during the trip.

Day 2 – Free and easy

After breakfast, we chose to go to Bencab Museum since it ranked no.1 in TripAdvisor as top place to visit in Baguio, althought it’s located in Tuba already which is 15mins away from city proper. Since it’s an art gallery/museum, it is very instagrammable and a must go for the millenials. ๐Ÿ˜‚ โœŒ

Go back to hotel for checkout and head to Ketchup Community, a food park-ish place, for lunch. We ate at Rancho which serves Pinoy dishes. And their best sellers are Sisig Bagnet and Pinakbet with Bagnet.๐Ÿ‘

After lunch, you can stroll in the very nearby Wright Park and The Mansion.

Ride a jeepney headed to Mine’s View Park and alight in Good Shepherd Convent to buy pasalubong. Then ride a taxi going to Victory Liner Bus Terminal.

Don’t Sleep with a Lonely Heart

I woke up crying to this very bad dream I had this morning. It’s super bad that I still cried minutes after waking up ๐Ÿ˜ญ and I decided not to tell anyone about it. As I sat outside the door, my Aunt was there and she asked me,

“Why do you look so sad?”

“I had a dream.” I replied with teary eyes.

“What is it?” she added.

And I looked away.

“You must tell it. Dreams like that must be told.” she insisted.

I pointed at my brother and said, “Him. He died in my dream.” My tears fell again and I wiped it with my hands.

“Don’t worry, it’s the opposite in real life.” she smilingly replied.

Somehow I felt lighter. Thanks to her.

My theory is, because I slept with: (1) Headache-although I took med before going to bed, (2) Sadness-because of the movie I just watched, and (3) Loneliness-I was literally alone at home. I even tweeted about those before I totally fell asleep.

Or maybe, because it’s still too early for me to sleep? Haha.. โœŒ
But seriously, I find it different from taking a rest after a very stressful day ‘coz sleeping will relax you and will bring you back to your energetic self when u wake up.
I don’t wanna have such a bad dream again ever!

So I guess this is a lesson learned for me. Don’t sleep with a lonely heart and mind and most importantly, don’t forget to pray. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘†

Finding Courage

It’s already morning and I still can’t sleep. Suddenly I decided to reflect on what my life had been for the past few months.

Yesterday was Sunday and like most of the church days, I didn’t go. I didn’t go for no reason at all. And that what makes me feel more guilty. This laziness in me is my first enemy.

My work is from Monday to Saturday. So basically, Sundays are my only free days. There are so many things I would love to do, to try, places to go to, etc. but I don’t know how to fit all of those in my free day because I suck with time management and I have this one problem, my second enemy, lack of courage.

I may look tough and brave but the truth is, I’m afraid to a lot of things.

I’m afraid to go to church alone. I don’t know why, but I never really went to church all by myself ever in my entire life. As I remember, our whole family goes to church when we were kids. And as years passed by, that changed. All of us become busy with our own stuff. So now, my chances of hearing the mass is either when somebody asked me to go or it’s me who asked somebody to come with me. I know it doesn’t makes sense because it’s a holy place where nobody would try to do harm to anyone but I don’t know.. I really don’t know why I can’t go alone?!

I’m afraid of taking risks. I guess it’s not only me who has a problem with this one right? But I really wanna learn how to get rid of it. If only I’m not afraid, I would have started swimming lessons, I would have started my everyday run, I would have climbed mountains, I would have fell in love, I would have shared memories, I would have been more energetic and productive, and I would have been seeing life in a different perspective.

When and where can I find you? I’m just here, maybe that’s why I still don’t have you. What if you are a Pokemon? Would it be easier to find you? Haha.. I’m just kidding.

If only there’s a handbook, well I guess it won’t make a difference because I don’t read a lot. Why am I contradicting myself? Ugh!

I hope it’s not yet too late to meet you. I’m looking forward to it!

What A Watery World!

Not being able to swim doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the water.
Whenever people ask me, “Can you swim?” that’s the only time I get to realize that it’s kinda ironic how I’m always on the go when in fact I can’t save myself from being drowned.
Well, it really doesn’t matter.
I’ve rode boats many times, conquered rapids, hopped several islands, hide behind waterfalls, and even learn how to surf, but it didn’t bother me at all. \m/
I don’t know how but whenever I am in an activity, excitement prevails over fear.
And I must say that it’s a strong characteristic, the ability to face fears. Since nothing can be done about it, just seize the moment. Ginusto mo yan eh! ๐Ÿ™‚

Survivor Cagayan: A Journey to the Northeastern Beauty of the Philippines

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

This was so far my longest land travel. Estimated 10 hours from Kamuning, Quezon City to Tuguegarao City with the deluxe bus. The normal bus would take around 11-12 hours due to several stop-overs. We booked our tickets in Victory Liner a week ahead since GV Florida is not in operation.

Highlights of this trip are the following:
(not arranged accordingly)
-Challenge of strolling around the very hot city of Tuguegarao
-Pancit Batil Patung, a must try variety of pancit which is authentic in Cagayan
-Beautiful Callao Cave and its rock formations in Peรฑablanca
-Chicharabao, a cracker made from carabao’s skin
-Palaui Island, location of Blood vs. Water season of Survivor
-Mini trekking going up the cape while feeling the cold fresh wind
-Cape Engaรฑo Lighthouse
-Relaxing view of the island from the cape
-Dos Hermanas (Twin Islands)
-Extra challenge looking for souvenir shops in Tuguegarao.
-A Visit to Basilica of Our Lady of Piat
-Visiting the relatives of Christian in Sto. Niรฑo
-Boating in some part of Cagayan River
-Seeing the long stretch of drying palays on the road
-Boat tour
-Crocodile Island
-Anguib beach
-And of course, who would not enjoy photo shoots!?

We stayed at Jotay Resort in Sta. Ana, Cagayan. Though the resort small, it is nice. You can play volleyball, swim on the beach or on the pool or just relax in one of their cottages.
While we’re in the restaurant, we were entertained with a cute St. Bernard strolling around.

Still we missed some must-see places here, meaning we still have an excuse to come back! 😁

During our travel back home, the bus experienced some mechanical failure so we got stuck on the road in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya for 6 hours. How was that?
We left Tuguegarao at 4pm, Sunday therefore we didn’t make it to office the following day, Monday ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Luckily we were near the handicraft stores along the highway and the kind owner of one of the stores allowed us to recharge our cellphone batteries for free while eating goto with egg for breakfast.

For long land commute travel like this and for DIY travellers like us, patience is essential and you should be always ready for all types of inconvenience. Because believe me or not, everything will still be alright. As my favorite song in times like this goes like,
“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry child
See, heaven’s got a plan for you.” 👌

Finding Your Travel Motivation

image

October is normally a stormy month in Surigao, but luckily, we were blessed with a good weather when we visited the province last week. I’m thankful that I managed to take a photograph of this natural wonder just right for sharing online which I can say as my own and not grabbed from bloggers and other sites.

I guess now I’ve found that having the opportunity to see the real life beauty of our nature and to appreciate it even more is what motivates me to travel.

We ordered these for breakfast before the Island Hopping activity in Siargao.

We didn’t expect these to be picture perfect. We were amazed so I was like, I should share this online!
